What do the best distros do to make their merch more popular?

Free software developers and Linux distributions are constantly joining our project. We are always glad to have any new partners. We adapt their new logo for embroidery, test the embroidery (usually it takes more than 10 embroiders to ensure the logo looks good), choose relevant colors,  make samples and coordinate with partners. The whole process can take about a month. Finally, we launch embroidery of a new logo, a lot of work is done, but we only sell one or two T-shirts or even none at all. Our new partner asks us how sales are going, but there are no sales. For our part, we always send e-mails about new products to our subscribers and also post photos of new embroideries on Mastodon, but that's not enough.

Each Linux distribution has an official website, its users often visit it to get information, to download. The appearance of official merch is good news for any fan, it has to be published on the website. People want to know if they can buy a T-shirt with their favorite distro. Partners who wrote about us in their news found that their merch sold more. By mentioning us on the official website the distribution confirms that we have an official agreement and that people can safely buy from us. It is not fake.

We always ask to add the link for the shirts to their official website, mentioning the possibility of purchasing them. Often the link is placed at the very bottom of the page, with small letters. This is the biggest mistake: no one reads the bottom of the page, and ultimately no one buys. People simply don't know about the opportunity. The most popular and best selling distributions at  HelloTux are those who have a link at the very top of the page or in the upper right corner with the words "merch," "store,", “T-shirts” or "support". Some good examples are Arch Linux, Linux Mint, Asahi Linux or Sourcehut. A well-placed location on the distribution's website and a mention of our project in the news will help all Linux fans find their merch and make Linux even more popular.
